For Parents & Guardians
Camp Monahan is an accredited member of the Saskatchewan Camping Association.
- Arrival time for campers is between 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. unless otherwise stated on your confirmation letter.
- Each camp session ends with a campfire program which begins 10:30 a.m. (7 p.m. for scamper and mini camp) and lasts approximately 45 mins.
- All campers must be picked up by no later than 12:00 noon on the closing day for Junior and Senior camp programs. Scampers and Mini Camps must be picked up by 9p.m.
- Supervision is provided during all activities, including qualified lifeguards on duty during all aquatic activities.
- Medical care is available at all times at our well-equipped First Aid Station. ALL MEDICATION MUST BE TURNED IN TO THE FIRST AID ATTENDANT UPON ARRIVAL AT CAMP. You do not need to send any aspirin, Tylenol, cough medication, etc as our First Aid Station is well stocked and our First Aid Attendant must administer all medication. If your child’s health and/or medication changes between the time of registration and arrival at camp, it is in the best interest and health of your child that you inform the Director, First Aid Attendant and Counsellor upon arrival of the change (preferably in writing). All campers must visit the First Aid Attendant on arrival and check-in.
- A well-balanced diet is provided to all campers, however camp is not able to guarantee a peanut-free environment.
- We do not provide transportation to and from our camp.
- Please note the arrival and departure times for your child. Please do not arrive any earlier than the stated arrival time, as we are unable to provide supervision for your child any earlier.
- A list of things to pack will be mailed out to you with confirmation of your registration (or, if you have misplaced it, refer to the camp program page for a list).
- DO NOT send valuable items (ie electronic devices) as the camp staff will not be responsible for lost, misplaced or damaged items of this nature. Should these items be brought to camp, they may be stored for safe keeping until your child’s departure.
- It is important that all clothing and equipment brought to camp be properly labelled. Please ensure that ALL items are labelled for easier identification. Do not send good or new clothing.
- Meeting new friends is an important aspect of the camp experience. Campers are placed in age groups at the discretion of Camp Administration. From past experience we have found that friends/family together can often cause problems among the campers and with the group dynamics. Campers are co-located according to sexes and therefore will not be far from their friend/family. We ask that you comply with our groupings upon arrival at camp; your cooperation is appreciated.
- PLEASE DO NOT SEND: food, drinks, candy, etc to camp with your child as these items will attract bugs, animals, etc into the cabin and/or tent and luggage.
- Although we take every reasonable precaution to avoid accidents, incidents sometimes happen. In the event that a camper requires additional medical attention beyond that which is possible at camp, the Camp Director will arrange for any special services necessary for the best interests of the camper. In such situations, the camp will notify the parent(s) as soon as possible. Any additional expenses that may result from such services are the responsibility of the parent(s)/guardian(s).
- Campers are not permitted to leave the campgrounds without permission from the Camp Director.
- Camp Monahan reserves the right to dismiss any camper (at the discretion of the Camp Director) who in his/her opinion, is a hazard to the safety and rights of other campers or staff due to unacceptable behaviour or attitudes, or who appears to have rejected the reasonable expectations of the camp.
- Refunds are not available for campers arriving late, leaving early or for campers dismissed due to disciplinary action.
- Campers sometime get homesick the first few days, however, usually do well thereafter. Visits or phone calls are not recommended so as not to interfere with camp activities. Parents will be notified if necessary. Any inquiries should be directed to (306) 522-1047.
- There will be promotional items for purchase at camp on both the Registration Day and Pick-up Day. Items may include: t-shirts, water bottles or other such items. Photo cd’s are available but must be pre-paid on Registration Day. We recommend that you bring $10.00 – $30.00 if you wish to purchase items for your child’s camp memorabilia.
- There will be a “Lost & Found” area on the closing day of camp. We encourage you to check for any items your child may have misplaced, as children often do not recognize their belongings. Any items remaining after camp has ended will be washed and donated to a worthy cause.
- Each camp session ends with a campfire program, which is the highlight of your child’s camping experience, therefore we strongly urge you to attend this program with your child. The campfire lasts approximately 45 minutes after which time you are free to leave.
- All campers must be picked up following Final Campfire, as camp staff will not be available to supervise after campfire is completed.
